The Birth of Jesus!

For we Christians Christmas time is the celebration of Jesus birth. He was the Messiah who was prophesied to come.
In this study we’ll see a little about Jesus birth and about the things He had to come to this earth to accomplish.
Jesus Birth – Jesus was to be born of a virgin!
This was prophesied long ago in Isaiah 7 –
Isa 7:14 AKJV/PCE Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
The angel Gabriel came and told Mary that this would happen to her.
Luke 1:31 AKJV/PCE And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
Mary questioned how that could happen since she had not had sexual relations with a man yet (i.e. she was a virgin). And the angel told her this would be caused by God!
Luke 1:34 AKJV/PCE Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
Luke 1:35 AKJV/PCE And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
UNDERSTAND – The early Church Fathers, including Saint Polycarp knew of and taught the virgin birth of Jesus Christ. Polycarp was a disciple of the Apostle John, Jesus favorite disciple.
Google AI says this about Polycarp’s teaching –
“Belief in the Virgin Birth: While his surviving works are limited, his writings and the accounts of his life by other early Christian writers (such as Irenaeus, who was Polycarp’s own disciple) consistently portray him as holding the orthodox Christian beliefs of the time, including the doctrine of the virgin birth [1, 3].”
Jesus Place of Birth – The prophet Micah prophesied about 700 years before Christ’s birth that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem.
Mic 5:2 AKJV/PCE But thou, Beth-lehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
NOTICE that He will be a ruler over Judah. And He has existed since forever!
Clearly a reference to the coming of the Messiah.
And that was accomplished in this way –
Luke 2:1 AKJV/PCE And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.
And this taxing forced Joseph to go with Mary, his wife to be, to Bethlehem in Judea.
Luke 2:4 AKJV/PCE And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
Luke 2:5 AKJV/PCE To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
Luke 2:6 AKJV/PCE And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
Luke 2:7 AKJV/PCE And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
So they got there just in time for Mary to give birth to the baby Jesus!
Things Jesus Came to Accomplish – Now this fulfilled the prophesied miraculous coming of God Himself to be among us!
Isaiah prophesied about this in Isaiah 9:6 –
Isa 9:6 AKJV/PCE For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Now “his name” indicates that He would be known as doing these several wonderful things.
The New Testament references the fulfillment of these points in Isaiah 9:6 –
Jesus was wonderful = a miracle!
Luke 1:30-35 shows that Jesus was of God, born of Mary who was a virgin!
Luke 1:30 AKJV/PCE And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
Luke 1:31 AKJV/PCE And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
Luke 1:32 AKJV/PCE He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
Luke 1:33 AKJV/PCE And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
Luke 1:34 AKJV/PCE Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
Luke 1:35 AKJV/PCE And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
Jesus did give counsel, and advised His disciples and the people.

And Jesus was the prince of Peace –
John 14:27 AKJV/PCE Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Acts 10:36 AKJV/PCE The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)
Col 1:16 AKJV/PCE For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
Col 1:17 AKJV/PCE And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
Jesus came to save us from our sins –
This was prophesied in Isaiah 53:5-6 –
Isa 53:5 AKJV/PCE But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
Isa 53:6 AKJV/PCE All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
And the New Testament talks in many places about Jesus saving us from our sins.
Matt 1:21 AKJV/PCE And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
John 3:16 AKJV/PCE ¶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:17 AKJV/PCE For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
1Tim 1:15 AKJV/PCE This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
