The Catching Up of we Christians should encourage us! A lot!
And our New Testament talks about this Catching Up a lot of ways.
Some passages describe this event. And they encourage us to watch for it!
Here in Titus 2 Paul describes the Rapture – Catching Up – as like our reward for living for God and watching for Jesus coming for us.
Titus 2:12 WEB instructing us to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we would live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world;
Titus 2:13 WEB looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ;
This Catching Up of the Church is going to happen fast! It’s Not Like the description of the Second Coming of Jesus when all the world see’s Him coming back to earth (See Matthew 24:30, and Acts 1:11, Revelation 19:11-16 and 19).
1Cor 15:51 WEB Behold, I tell you a mystery. We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed,
1Cor 15:52 WEB in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed.
1Cor 15:53 WEB For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
1Cor 15:54 WEB But when this corruptible will have put on incorruption, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then what is written will happen: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”
In 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 Paul says this promise is a comfort – an encouragement to us. It’s not like a warning that we’re going through half of God’s judgments on this earth!
1Thess 4:16 WEB For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with God’s trumpet. The dead in Christ will rise first,
1Thess 4:17 WEB then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. So we will be with the Lord forever.
1Thess 4:18 WEB Therefore comfort one another with these words.
Here in Philippians 3:11-15 Paul links our High Calling of God (our going up to God) to the time when we are finally Perfect. No more imperfection within us!
Phil 3:11 WEB if by any means I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
Phil 3:12 WEB Not that I have already obtained, or am already made perfect; but I press on, if it is so that I may take hold of that for which also I was taken hold of by Christ Jesus.
Phil 3:13 WEB Brothers, I don’t regard myself as yet having taken hold, but one thing I do. Forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before,
Phil 3:14 WEB I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Phil 3:15 WEB Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, think this way. If in anything you think otherwise, God will also reveal that to you.
In some passages God shows us why the Catching Up of the Church and then the Judgments of this earth will happen!
In 2 Thessalonians 1:6-8 God shows us that He will give us relief and He will repay those who refuse the Gospel!
2Thess 1:6 WEB Since it is a righteous thing with God to repay affliction to those who afflict you,
2Thess 1:7 WEB and to give relief to you who are afflicted with us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire,
2Thess 1:8 WEB giving vengeance to those who don’t know God, and to those who don’t obey the Good News of our Lord Jesus,
In 1Thessalonians 5:2-9 Paul warns them about the day of the Lord and the sudden destruction coming on this earth. And he tells the Thessalonians and us that God didn’t appoint – destine – we Christians to that wrath – God’s judgment! He appointed us to being totally Saved! And that totally Saved is a perfect description of the Catching Up of the Church and our Final Complete Salvation as Paul described it in Philippians 3:12-14.
1Thess 5:2 WEB For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night.
1Thess 5:3 WEB For when they are saying, “Peace and safety,” then sudden destruction will come on them, like birth pains on a pregnant woman; and they will in no way escape.
1Thess 5:4 WEB But you, brothers, aren’t in darkness, that the day should overtake you like a thief.
1Thess 5:5 WEB You are all children of light, and children of the day. We don’t belong to the night, nor to darkness,
1Thess 5:6 WEB so then let’s not sleep, as the rest do, but let’s watch and be sober.
1Thess 5:7 WEB For those who sleep, sleep in the night, and those who are drunk are drunk in the night.
1Thess 5:8 WEB But let us, since we belong to the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and, for a helmet, the hope of salvation.
1Thess 5:9 WEB For God didn’t appoint us to wrath, but to the obtaining of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
On that “salvation” in verse 9 above, Robertson’s Word Pictures explains it this way – “The latter is probably the idea here. We are to keep awake so as to fulfil God’s purpose (εθετο, appointed, second aorist middle indicative of τιθημ) in calling us. That is our hope of final victory (salvation in this sense).”.
I like to view some passages as explaining that the Resurrection is an important part of the Catching Up of we Christians.
Let’s look again at 1 Corinthians 15:50-54 and the Catching Up of we Christians and our Physical Change. This happens very quickly!
Our body that can die and decay can’t inherit a place in the Kingdom of God! has to be changed to a body that can’t die or decay! And that is God’s Plan. To swallow up death in victory!
And understand that this is referring to our Resurrection!
1Cor 15:50 WEB Now I say this, brothers, that flesh and blood can’t inherit the Kingdom of God; neither does corruption inherit incorruption.
1Cor 15:51 WEB Behold, I tell you a mystery. We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed,
1Cor 15:52 WEB in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed.

Philippians 3:20-21 show us that the Lord plans for our resurrected bodies to be glorified and similar to His!
Phil 3:20 WEB For our citizenship is in heaven, from where we also wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;
Phil 3:21 WEB who will change the body of our humiliation to be conformed to the body of his glory, according to the working by which he is able even to subject all things to himself.
But why is a Resurrection so important? Why do we have to be Resurrected?
Because sin has caused us all to die! So we must be Resurrected in a new body to be in heaven with the Lord.
I believe that these verses show us why the Resurrection is so important.
1Cor 15:56 WEB The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
1Cor 15:25 WEB For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.
1Cor 15:26 WEB The last enemy that will be abolished is death.
1Cor 15:53 WEB For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
1Cor 15:54 WEB But when this corruptible will have put on incorruption, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then what is written will happen: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”
Rev 1:17 WEB When I saw him, I fell at his feet like a dead man. He laid his right hand on me, saying, “Don’t be afraid. I am the first and the last,
Rev 1:18 WEB and the Living one. I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. I have the keys of Death and of Hades.
Rev 20:14 WEB Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.
And there are passages where it explains when our Catching Up takes place in relation to the time of Judgments – the Great Tribulation – that will come on this earth!
In 2 Thessalonians 2:5-8 Paul says they knew what is restraining the lawless one (the antichrist) from coming into view. That one is restraining the antichrist right now. But he (surely the Church) will be taken out of the way.
And ONLY then can the antichrist come into view on this earth!
2Thess 2:5 WEB Don’t you remember that, when I was still with you, I told you these things?
2Thess 2:6 WEB Now you know what is restraining him, to the end that he may be revealed in his own season.
2Thess 2:7 WEB For the mystery of lawlessness already works. Only there is one who restrains now, until he is taken out of the way.
2Thess 2:8 WEB Then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will kill with the breath of his mouth, and destroy by the manifestation of his coming;
So the order I believe is that the Church is taken out – off this earth – first.
Then the antichrist comes into view. And he will slowly consolidate power.
Then Jesus will return to this earth and destroy him!
In Revelation 2-3 John receives messages for the seven churches.
NOTE – These messages in the order given are a good overview of how the Church will develop until the end of the Church Age.
Then in Revelation 4:1 John hears Jesus above commanding him to come up. And John is suddenly in the spirit and in God’s throne room in heaven!
UNDERSTAND THIS – John experiences the Catching Up – the Rapture – of the Church that Paul describes in 1 Thessalonians 4:17.
Then in Revelation 6:1 we see someone looking a little Christ like ride out on the world stage. And the judgments start to fall on this earth.
John goes up quickly to God’s throne room in heaven –
Rev 4:1 WEB After these things I looked and saw a door opened in heaven, and the first voice that I heard, like a trumpet speaking with me, was one saying, “Come up here, and I will show you the things which must happen after this.”
Rev 4:2 WEB Immediately I was in the Spirit. Behold, there was a throne set in heaven, and one sitting on the throne
NOTICE – That John see’s twenty-four elders already there on thrones wearing gold crowns!
Rev 4:3 WEB that looked like a jasper stone and a sardius. There was a rainbow around the throne, like an emerald to look at.
Rev 4:4 WEB Around the throne were twenty-four thrones. On the thrones were twenty-four elders sitting, dressed in white garments, with crowns of gold on their heads.
NOTE – That in Revelation 5:8-10 we see that these elders on the thrones are bought with the blood of Christ. So those elders are glorified humans!
Rev 5:8 WEB Now when he had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.
Rev 5:9 WEB They sang a new song, saying, “You are worthy to take the book, and to open its seals: for you were killed, and bought us for God with your blood, out of every tribe, language, people, and nation,
Rev 5:10 WEB and made us kings and priests to our God, and we will reign on earth.”
NOTICE That – In Revelation 4:4 these twenty-four elders are on thrones wearing white garments and gold crowns!
So they are ruling with Christ at that time!
And 1 Peter 5:4 tells us that we Christians finally get out crowns when the chief shepherd is revealed – that is, when he comes for we Believers in Christ.
And what Peter says fits well with what John see’s here in heaven.
So these twenty-four elders – symbolizing we Believers also – already have their crowns and are ruling with Christ at that time.
THINK – So Jesus – the chief shepherd – has already come and Caught Up we Christians to be with Him in Heaven. And we have received our crowns of glory!
1Pet 5:4 WEB When the chief Shepherd is revealed, you will receive the crown of glory that doesn’t fade away.
So the Catching Up of the Church has just taken place.
John acts out that Catching Up in Revelation 4:1-2 when he hears the call of Jesus and is in the spirit and instantly in heaven with Jesus!
NOTICE That – Then we see the judgments start down here on this earth!
And the first thing that we see is that rider looking a little christ like riding out on the world scene.
Rev 6:1 WEB I saw that the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying, as with a voice of thunder, “Come and see!”
Rev 6:2 WEB And behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow. A crown was given to him, and he came forth conquering, and to conquer.
Rev 6:12 WEB I saw when he opened the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake. The sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became as blood.
Rev 6:13 WEB The stars of the sky fell to the earth, like a fig tree dropping its unripe figs when it is shaken by a great wind.
Rev 6:14 WEB The sky was removed like a scroll when it is rolled up. Every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
Rev 6:15 WEB The kings of the earth, the princes, the commanding officers, the rich, the strong, and every slave and free person, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains.
Rev 6:16 WEB They told the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb,
Rev 6:17 WEB for the great day of his wrath has come; and who is able to stand?”
Then we see people down on this earth suffering more and more of the increasing judgments from the Father on this earth.
And they start crying out to the mountains and rocks to literally fall over them and hide them from the face of the Father on His throne and from the Lamb’s wrath that they now realize has come down upon them!
But remember that we Christians are not on this earth at that time.
We have been Caught Up into Heaven with Jesus our Savior.
We are finally fully saved and perfected. We are promised this.
1Thess 5:9 WEB For God didn’t appoint us to wrath, but to the obtaining of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Now All of that is something to be comforted and encouraged about!

¡El Señor viene a llevarnos con Él! ¡Y esa es nuestra bienaventurada esperanza!

Esa es nuestra esperanza de victoria final (salvación en este sentido)».
Me gusta interpretar algunos pasajes como una explicación de que la Resurrección es una parte importante del Arrebatamiento de los cristianos.
Volvamos a examinar 1 Corintios 15:50-54 y el arrebatamiento de los cristianos, así como nuestra transformación física. ¡Esto sucede muy rápidamente!

Pero ¿por qué es tan importante la resurrección? ¿Por qué tenemos que resucitar?
¡Porque el pecado ha hecho que todos muramos! Por eso debemos resucitar en un cuerpo nuevo para estar en el cielo con el Señor.
Creo que estos versículos nos muestran por qué la resurrección es tan importante.
1Cor 15:56 RVG10 El aguijón de la muerte es el pecado, y el poder del pecado es la ley.
1Cor 15:25 RVG10 Porque es menester que Él reine, hasta que haya puesto a todos sus enemigos debajo de sus pies.
1Cor 15:26 RVG10 Y el postrer enemigo que será destruido es la muerte.
1Cor 15:53 RVG10 Porque es necesario que esto corruptible se vista de incorrupción, y esto mortal se vista de inmortalidad.

Rev 1:17 RVG10 Y cuando le vi, caí como muerto a sus pies. Y Él puso su diestra sobre mí, diciéndome: No temas; yo soy el primero y el último;

¡Y hay pasajes que explican cuándo tiene lugar nuestro Arrebatamiento en relación con el tiempo de los juicios —la Gran Tribulación— que vendrán sobre esta tierra!
En 2 Tesalonicenses 2:5-8, Pablo dice que ellos sabían qué es lo que impide que el inicuo (el anticristo) se manifieste. Ese agente está reteniendo al anticristo en este preciso momento. Pero él (sin duda, la Iglesia) será quitado de en medio.
¡Y SOLO entonces podrá el anticristo manifestarse en esta tierra!
2Thess 2:5 RVG10 ¿No os acordáis que cuando estaba todavía con vosotros, os decía esto?
2Thess 2:6 RVG10 Y ahora vosotros sabéis lo que lo detiene, para que sea revelado en su tiempo.
2Thess 2:7 RVG10 Porque el misterio de iniquidad ya opera; sólo espera hasta que sea quitado de en medio el que ahora lo detiene.
2Thess 2:8 RVG10 Y entonces será revelado aquel inicuo, al cual el Señor matará con el espíritu de su boca, y destruirá con el resplandor de su venida;
Así pues, creo que el orden es que la Iglesia sea retirada —sacada de esta tierra— en primer lugar.
Luego aparece en escena el Anticristo, quien irá consolidando su poder poco a poco.
¡Entonces Jesús regresará a esta tierra y lo destruirá!
En los capítulos 2 y 3 de Apocalipsis, Juan recibe mensajes para las siete iglesias.
NOTA: Estos mensajes, en el orden en que se presentan, ofrecen una buena perspectiva de cómo se desarrollará la Iglesia hasta el final de la Era de la Iglesia.
Luego, en Apocalipsis 4:1, Juan oye a Jesús ordenarle desde lo alto que suba. ¡Y de repente, Juan se encuentra en el Espíritu y en la sala del trono de Dios en el cielo!
COMPRENDE ESTO: Juan experimenta el Arrebatamiento —el Rapto— de la Iglesia que Pablo describe en 1 Tesalonicenses 4:17.
Después, en Apocalipsis 6:1, vemos a alguien que parece tener cierto parecido con Cristo aparecer en el escenario mundial. Y los juicios comienzan a caer sobre la tierra.
Juan asciende rápidamente a la sala del trono de Dios en el cielo…
Rev 4:1 RVG10 Después de estas cosas miré, y he aquí una puerta abierta en el cielo; y la primera voz que oí, era como de trompeta que hablaba conmigo, diciendo: Sube acá, y yo te mostraré las cosas que han de ser después de éstas.
Rev 4:2 RVG10 Y al instante estaba yo en el Espíritu; y he aquí, un trono que estaba puesto en el cielo, y uno sentado sobre el trono.
¡AVISO: Juan ve a veinticuatro ancianos ya presentes en tronos, llevando coronas de oro!
Rev 4:3 RVG10 Y el que estaba sentado, era al parecer semejante al jaspe y a la piedra de sardonia; y había alrededor del trono un arco iris, semejante en aspecto a la esmeralda.
Rev 4:4 RVG10 Y alrededor del trono había veinticuatro sillas; y vi sobre las sillas veinticuatro ancianos sentados, vestidos de ropas blancas; y tenían sobre sus cabezas coronas de oro.
NOTA: En Apocalipsis 5:8-10 vemos que estos ancianos que están en los tronos fueron comprados con la sangre de Cristo. ¡Por lo tanto, esos ancianos son seres humanos glorificados!
Rev 5:8 RVG10 Y cuando hubo tomado el libro, los cuatro seres vivientes y los veinticuatro ancianos se postraron delante del Cordero, teniendo cada uno arpas, y tazones de oro llenos de perfumes, que son las oraciones de los santos.
Rev 5:9 RVG10 Y cantaban un cántico nuevo, diciendo: Digno eres de tomar el libro y de abrir sus sellos; porque tú fuiste inmolado, y nos has redimido para Dios con tu sangre, de todo linaje y lengua y pueblo y nación;
Rev 5:10 RVG10 y nos has hecho para nuestro Dios reyes y sacerdotes, y reinaremos sobre la tierra.
¡OBSERVE que, en Apocalipsis 4:4, estos veinticuatro ancianos están sentados en tronos, vestidos con ropas blancas y coronas de oro!
¡Así que están reinando con Cristo en ese momento!
Y 1 Pedro 5:4 nos dice que nosotros, los cristianos, finalmente recibiremos nuestras coronas cuando el Príncipe de los pastores se manifieste; es decir, cuando Él venga por nosotros, los creyentes en Cristo.
Lo que dice Pedro concuerda perfectamente con lo que Juan ve aquí en el cielo.
Por lo tanto, estos veinticuatro ancianos —que también nos representan a nosotros, los creyentes— ya tienen sus coronas y están reinando con Cristo en ese momento.
PIÉNSELO: Jesús —el Príncipe de los pastores— ya ha venido y nos ha arrebatado a los cristianos para estar con Él en el cielo. ¡Y hemos recibido nuestras coronas de gloria!
1Pet 5:4 RVG10 Y cuando apareciere el Príncipe de los pastores, vosotros recibiréis la corona incorruptible de gloria.
Así pues, el Arrebatamiento de la Iglesia acaba de ocurrir.
Juan escenifica ese Arrebatamiento en Apocalipsis 4:1-2 cuando escucha el llamado de Jesús, entra en el Espíritu e instantáneamente se encuentra en el cielo con Él.
¡Fíjese bien en esto! ¡Entonces vemos cómo comienzan los juicios aquí en la tierra!
Y lo primero que vemos es a aquel jinete que, con una apariencia algo semejante a la de Cristo, irrumpe en la escena mundial.
Rev 6:1 RVG10 Y vi cuando el Cordero abrió uno de los sellos, y oí a uno de los cuatro seres vivientes, como con voz de trueno, diciendo: Ven y mira.
Rev 6:2 RVG10 Y miré, y he aquí un caballo blanco; y el que estaba sentado sobre él tenía un arco; y le fue dada una corona, y salió venciendo, y para vencer.
Rev 6:12 RVG10 Y miré cuando Él abrió el sexto sello, y he aquí fue hecho un gran terremoto; y el sol se puso negro como un saco de cilicio, y la luna se volvió como sangre;
Rev 6:13 RVG10 y las estrellas del cielo cayeron sobre la tierra, como caen los higos verdes de la higuera cuando es sacudida por un fuerte viento.
Rev 6:14 RVG10 Y el cielo se apartó como un pergamino que es enrollado; y toda montaña y toda isla fue movida de su lugar.
Rev 6:15 RVG10 Y los reyes de la tierra, y los magistrados, y los ricos, y los capitanes, y los poderosos, y todo siervo y todo libre, se escondieron en las cuevas y entre las peñas de las montañas;
Rev 6:16 RVG10 y decían a las montañas y a las peñas: Caed sobre nosotros, y escondednos del rostro de Aquél que está sentado sobre el trono, y de la ira del Cordero;
Rev 6:17 RVG10 porque el gran día de su ira ha llegado; ¿y quién podrá sostenerse en pie?
Entonces vemos a las personas aquí en la tierra sufriendo cada vez más los juicios crecientes del Padre sobre este mundo.
¡Y comienzan a clamar a los montes y a las rocas para que literalmente caigan sobre ellos y los oculten del rostro del Padre en su trono y de la ira del Cordero, que ahora comprenden ha caído sobre ellos!
Pero recordemos que nosotros, los cristianos, no estaremos en esta tierra en ese momento.
Habremos sido arrebatados al cielo con Jesús, nuestro Salvador.
Finalmente estaremos plenamente salvos y perfeccionados. Es una promesa que tenemos.
1Thess 5:9 RVG10 Porque no nos ha puesto Dios para ira, sino para obtener salvación por nuestro Señor Jesucristo;
¡Todo eso es motivo de consuelo y ánimo!
