The Days Are Cut Short!

HI FRIENDS! HERE’S A PROPHECY THOUGHT FOR YOU.

Matt 24:22 ESV2011 And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.
The Lord is talking about the end times prophecies. And just before this He mentions the abomination of desolation that Daniel saw when that beastly ruler (the little horn, Antichrist) will enter the Holy place in the temple.
And Jesus tells the crowd that it will be a terrible time.
Matt 24:16 ESV2011 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
Matt 24:21 ESV2011 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be.
That great tribulation is Greek Megas – Big Pressure on the people!
Albert Barnes Commentary says this – “There shall be great tribulation – The word “tribulation” means calamity or “suffering.” “
Just a lot of affliction and distress and pressure on people as Satan’s plan unfolds and God continues to pound this earth in judgment!
Paul also see’s this time in 2 Thessalonians 2:4. He describes this evil future ruler (Antichrist) as actually sitting in the Holiest in the Temple proclaiming himself as above all that is called god!
Now that’s a LOT of arrogance! And my understanding is that the Romans just didn’t do that personal level of desecration of the temple in 70 AD.
2Thess 2:3 WEB Let no one deceive you in any way. For it will not be, unless the departure comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of destruction,
2Thess 2:4 WEB he who opposes and exalts himself against all that is called God or that is worshiped; so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself up as God.
And also in 2 Thessalonians 2:8 Paul says that Jesus will return and personally destroy this evil ruler!
2Thess 2:8 ESV2011 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by the appearance of his coming.
Now that destruction did not happen to the Romans in 70 AD!
And Jesus certainly did not return to this earth to rule at that time!
So this has to be still in the future. And NOTE that there will have to be a New Temple in Jerusalem for these future prophecies to be fulfilled!
Jesus warns us that this will be a terrible time! Great Tribulation!
He actually says that this will be the worst tribulation that has occurred in this world! Nothing before can compare!
Now that is really really bad!
And then the Lord says an incredible thing about this time of great tribulation –

Cut short is abridged, curtailed.
Google Oxford Languages defines abridged as “(of a piece of writing) having been shortened.”
I suppose that we can say that God will cut the story short at this point – and end it sooner – so that not everyone dies! I guess that’s a little bit of comfort – in a nightmare situation!
But who are those elect? Well, let’s look back at verse 16 –
Matt 24:16 ESV2011 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
Jesus is talking at that time to the Jewish people in the land of Israel.
And we’ve seen that He is describing events still in the future, that will happen there in the land of Israel and in the temple.
So I believe that Jesus main emphasis here in Matthew 24 is to His people (the Jewish people) back in the land of Israel when this time of great tribulation starts. He is warning them to flee and hide while they can.
Matt 24:16 WEB then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
Some did this in 70 AD when the Romans invaded.
And many more will do this again in the future when the beast (Antichrist) invades the land of Israel and pollutes the Holiest in that New Temple that will be built maybe sometime soon!
And again, that time will be so bad that God will have to cut it short so that not everybody dies in the fighting and killing!

We Christians need to be watching for Jesus appearing in the cl,ouds above to Catch the Church Up before the tribulation begins!
Rev 4:1 ESV2011 After this I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven! And the first voice, which I had heard speaking to me like a trumpet, said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.”

Matt 24:22 RVG10 Y si aquellos días no fuesen acortados, ninguna carne sería salva; mas por causa de los escogidos, aquellos días serán acortados.
El Señor está hablando acerca de las profecías de los últimos tiempos. Y, justo antes de esto, menciona la abominación desoladora que Daniel vio, cuando aquel gobernante bestial (el cuerno pequeño, el Anticristo) entre en el Lugar Santo del templo.
Y Jesús le dice a la multitud que será un tiempo terrible.

Matt 24:21 RVG10 porque habrá entonces gran tribulación, cual no ha habido desde el principio del mundo hasta ahora, ni jamás habrá.

Y también en 2 Tesalonicenses 2:8, Pablo dice que Jesús regresará y destruirá personalmente a este gobernante malvado.

¡Pues bien, esa destrucción no les sobrevino a los romanos en el año 70 d. C.!
¡Y ciertamente Jesús no regresó a esta tierra para reinar en aquel entonces!
Por lo tanto, esto tiene que ser algo que aún está en el futuro. Y ¡OBSERVEN que tendrá que haber un Nuevo Templo en Jerusalén para que estas profecías futuras se cumplan!
¡Jesús nos advierte que este será un tiempo terrible! ¡La Gran Tribulación!
De hecho, él afirma que esta será la peor tribulación que jamás haya ocurrido en este mundo. ¡Nada anterior se le podrá comparar!

Supongo que podemos decir que Dios acortará la historia en este punto —y le pondrá fin antes— ¡para que no todos mueran! Supongo que eso supone un pequeño consuelo… ¡en medio de una situación de pesadilla!
Pero, ¿quiénes son esos elegidos? Bueno, volvamos al versículo 16:

En aquel momento, Jesús se dirige al pueblo judío en la tierra de Israel.
