In Paradise!

Luke 23:43 ESV2011 And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”
Jesus said this to the thieve on the cross beside Him.
Matthew tells us that there were two thieves crucified with Jesus. One on each side.
Matt 27:38 ESV2011 Then two robbers were crucified with him, one on the right and one on the left.
Matt 27:39 ESV2011 And those who passed by derided him, wagging their heads
Matt 27:40 ESV2011 and saying, “You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross.”
Matt 27:41 ESV2011 So also the chief priests, with the scribes and elders, mocked him, saying,
Matt 27:42 ESV2011 “He saved others; he cannot save himself. He is the King of Israel; let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him.
Matt 27:43 ESV2011 He trusts in God; let God deliver him now, if he desires him. For he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”
Matt 27:44 ESV2011 And the robbers who were crucified with him also reviled him in the same way.
Now the people passing by, as well as the chief priests and scribes, and also the Pharisees and elders all mocked Jesus. And the two robbers also mocked Him! They all said that He should come down off of the cross. He should save Himself as He had saved others!
But Jesus couldn’t come down off that cross! He said more than once that He had to die as a ransom for many!
Matt 20:28 ESV2011 even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
He would be killed and then rise again after three days.
Mark 8:31 ESV2011 And he began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed, and after three days rise again.
Jesus told the disciples that He had to die for His sheep!
John 10:14 ESV2011 I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me,
John 10:15 ESV2011 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.
And Jesus death for us gives us salvation. We are saved from the penalty for our sins through Jesus sacrifice for sin.
2Cor 5:21 ESV2011 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
1Pet 2:24 ESV2011 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
Now Luke tells us that later one of those robbers had a change of heart and defended Jesus!
Luke 23:39 ESV2011 One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him, saying, “Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!”
Luke 23:40 ESV2011 But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation?
Luke 23:41 ESV2011 And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.”
Luke 23:42 ESV2011 And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”
Luke 23:43 ESV2011 And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”
A LITTLE INFO – Now it seems that this paradise – for the souls of the righteous dead – was at that time located within the bowels of this earth.
Acts 2:27 ESV2011 For you will not abandon my soul to Hades, or let your Holy One see corruption.
Acts 2:31 ESV2011 he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption.
Eph 4:9 ESV2011 ( In saying, “He ascended,” what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower regions, the earth?
Luke 16:22 ESV2011 The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried,
Luke 16:23 ESV2011 and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side.
Luke 16:25 ESV2011 But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish.
Luke 16:26 ESV2011 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.’
Now Back to Luke 23:43 –
Luke 23:43 ESV2011 And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”
Something has happened to change this robber’s mind!
At first he had mocked Jesus like everyone else.
But now he’s defending Him!
He realizes that Jesus hasn’t done anything wrong!
I believe that he’s watched Jesus on that cross.
And he’s seen the difference in Jesus as He approaches death.
Now he realizes that Jesus is of God!
He even asks Christ to remember him in His kingdom!
What a change!
And the Lord tells him –
Luke 23:43 ESV2011 And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”
And today we Christians are saved through that same faith in Christ Jesus as our Savior –
Gal 2:16 ESV2011 yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.
The Father graciously saves us through Jesus sacrifice for sin –
Rom 5:8 ESV2011 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Rom 5:9 ESV2011 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.
And when we Believers leave this life we will go to be with Christ Jesus our Savior!
2Cor 5:8 ESV2011 Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.
When we depart from this life we will go to be with Christ our Lord –
Phil 1:23 ESV2011 I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better.

Ahora Lucas nos cuenta que, más tarde, uno de esos ladrones cambió de parecer ¡y defendió a Jesús!
Luke 23:39 RVG10 Y uno de los malhechores que estaban colgados le injuriaba, diciendo: Si tú eres el Cristo, sálvate a ti mismo y a nosotros.
Luke 23:40 RVG10 Y respondiendo el otro, le reprendió, diciendo: ¿No temes tú a Dios, aun estando en la misma condenación?
Luke 23:41 RVG10 Y nosotros, a la verdad, justamente padecemos; porque recibimos lo que merecieron nuestros hechos; mas Éste ningún mal hizo.
Luke 23:42 RVG10 Y dijo a Jesús: Señor, acuérdate de mí cuando vengas en tu reino.
Luke 23:43 RVG10 Entonces Jesús le dijo: De cierto te digo: Hoy estarás conmigo en el paraíso.
UN POCO DE INFORMACIÓN — Ahora parece que este paraíso —para las almas de los justos difuntos— se encontraba en aquel entonces en las entrañas de esta tierra.
Acts 2:27 RVG10 Porque no dejarás mi alma en el infierno, ni permitirás que tu Santo vea corrupción.

Ahora, volvamos a Lucas 23:43.
Luke 23:43 RVG10 Entonces Jesús le dijo: De cierto te digo: Hoy estarás conmigo en el paraíso.
¡Algo ha sucedido que ha hecho cambiar de opinión a este ladrón!
Al principio, se había burlado de Jesús, al igual que todos los demás.
¡Pero ahora lo está defendiendo!
¡Se da cuenta de que Jesús no ha hecho nada malo!
Creo que ha estado observando a Jesús en esa cruz.
Y ha visto la diferencia en Jesús a medida que se acerca a la muerte.
¡Ahora comprende que Jesús es de Dios!
¡Incluso le pide a Cristo que se acuerde de él en su reino!
¡Qué cambio!
Y el Señor le dice:
Luke 23:43 RVG10 Entonces Jesús le dijo: De cierto te digo: Hoy estarás conmigo en el paraíso.
Y hoy, nosotros los cristianos somos salvos por medio de esa misma fe en Cristo Jesús como nuestro Salvador.
Gal 2:16 RVG10 sabiendo que el hombre no es justificado por las obras de la ley, sino por la fe de Jesucristo, nosotros también hemos creído en Jesucristo, para ser justificados por la fe de Cristo y no por las obras de la ley, por cuanto por las obras de la ley ninguna carne será justificada.
El Padre nos salva con gracia mediante el sacrificio de Jesús por el pecado.
Rom 5:8 RVG10 Mas Dios encarece su amor para con nosotros, en que siendo aún pecadores, Cristo murió por nosotros.
Rom 5:9 RVG10 Mucho más ahora, estando ya justificados en su sangre, por Él seremos salvos de la ira.
Y cuando nosotros, los creyentes, dejemos esta vida, ¡iremos a estar con Cristo Jesús, nuestro Salvador!
2Cor 5:8 RVG10 Estamos confiados, y más quisiéramos estar ausentes del cuerpo, y presentes con el Señor.
Cuando partamos de esta vida, iremos a estar con Cristo, nuestro Señor.
Phil 1:23 RVG10 Porque de ambas cosas estoy puesto en estrecho, teniendo deseo de partir y estar con Cristo, lo cual es muchísimo mejor;
