Weakness, Fear and Trembling!

Here in 1 Corinthians 2 Paul shows an interesting side of himself!
1Cor 2:1 WPNT So when I came to you, brothers, I did not come proclaiming God’s testimony to you with a ‘superior’ speech or wisdom.
1Cor 2:2 WPNT For I determined to ‘know’ nothing while among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
1Cor 2:3 WPNT Also, I was with you in weakness, in fear, and with much trembling.
Paul says he didn’t come to the Corinthians with “‘superior’ speech or wisdom”. Now Paul was well educated because he mentions studying at Gamaliel’s feet. And Google AI says that Gamaliel was “a prominent Pharisee and leading figure in the Sanhedrin, the Jewish supreme court”, Downloaded 06-12-25.
NOTICE Also that in 1 Cor. 2:6 Paul says that he and his companions did speak with wisdom when they taught mature Christian’s – 1Cor 2:6 WPNT “However, we do speak wisdom among the mature . . .”.
So it seems that many of these Christian’s at Corinth were not very mature in their faith and understanding!
So it’s no wonder that poor Paul was really nervous when he got there and careful about what he said!
And he also says he didn’t want these Corinthian’s persuaded to be Christian’s – or better Christian’s – just because he, Paul, talked really sophisticated! He wanted them to be convinced by God’s Power!
1Cor 2:4 WPNT Yes, my message and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but with a demonstration of the Spirit and of power,
1Cor 2:5 WPNT so that your faith not be in men’s wisdom, but in God’s power.
It seems that Paul spoke to the Corinthians preaching the Gospel simply with the Spirit and power. Thinking about that “power” I noticed that, similarly, in Luke 6:17-19 a large crowd of people came to hear Jesus, and to be healed of diseases and demonic possession.
Luke 6:19 WPNT So the whole crowd kept trying to touch Him, because power was going out from Him and was healing all.
The message of the Gospel is what’s important. It saves and changes us. It makes us better Christian’s. And sometimes the Lord does heal and help us physically. We all do need His touch and help in our lives.

¡Debilidad, Temor y Temblor!

Hola amigos! Aquí tienes un pensamiento bíblico para ti.
¡Aquí en 1 Corintios 2 Pablo muestra un lado interesante de sí mismo!
1Cor 2:1 RVG10 Así que, hermanos, cuando fui a vosotros para predicaros el testimonio de Dios, no fui con excelencia de palabras o de sabiduría.
1Cor 2:2 RVG10 Pues me propuse no saber otra cosa entre vosotros, sino a Jesucristo, y a Éste crucificado.
1Cor 2:3 RVG10 Y estuve con vosotros en flaqueza, y mucho temor y temblor;
Pablo afirma que no acudió a los corintios con un lenguaje ni una sabiduría superiores. Pablo era muy culto, pues menciona haber estudiado a los pies de Gamaliel. Y la IA de Google afirma que Gamaliel era un fariseo prominente y figura destacada en el Sanedrín, la corte suprema judía. Descargado el 25/12/06.
NOTA: También en 1Cor 2:6 RVG10, Pablo dice que él y sus compañeros sí hablaban con sabiduría cuando enseñaban a cristianos maduros. “ Pero hablamos sabiduría entre perfectos . . .”.
Así que parece que muchos de estos cristianos en Corinto no eran muy maduros en su fe y entendimiento.
No es de extrañar, pues, que el pobre Pablo estuviera tan nervioso al llegar y fuera cuidadoso con lo que decía.
Y también dice que no quería que estos corintios fueran persuadidos a ser cristianos —o mejor dicho, cristianos— solo porque él, Pablo, hablaba con mucha sofisticación. ¡Quería que fueran convencidos por el poder de Dios!
1Cor 2:4 RVG10 y mi palabra y mi predicación no fue con palabras persuasivas de humana sabiduría, sino con demostración del Espíritu y de poder;
1Cor 2:5 RVG10 para que vuestra fe no esté fundada en la sabiduría de los hombres, sino en el poder de Dios.
Parece que Pablo les habló a los corintios predicando el Evangelio simplemente con el Espíritu y el poder. Al pensar en ese “poder”, noté que, de manera similar, en Lucas 6:17-19 una gran multitud acudió para escuchar a Jesús y ser sanada de enfermedades y posesiones demoníacas.
Luke 6:19 RVG10 Y toda la multitud procuraba tocarle; porque poder salía de Él, y sanaba a todos.
El mensaje del Evangelio es lo importante. Nos salva y nos transforma. Nos hace mejores cristianos. Y a veces el Señor nos sana y nos ayuda físicamente. Todos necesitamos su toque y ayuda en nuestras vidas.
