Living Water and Eternal Life!

Here in John 7 Jesus cries out to the crowds about living water!
John 7:37 AKJV/PCE In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
John 7:38 AKJV/PCE He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
John 7:39 AKJV/PCE (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
But what is this living water? Is it just Spiritual talk for the water of life? Salvation? Or is it literal water for people to drink and use? Or is it both?
Well . . . let’s see what we can find in the scriptures.
Now in Jeremiah the Lord described Israel’s backsliding as turning from Him “the fountain of living waters”! Instead they turned to their idols!
Jer 2:13 AKJV/PCE For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
Jer 17:13 AKJV/PCE O LORD, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living waters.
Looking further into this thought about the living waters we see that when more of the people of Israel return to Israel (after the Tribulation) they will get water from “wells of salvation”. And that reminds us of our Salvation through Jesus.
Isa 12:3 AKJV/PCE Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.
Isa 12:4 AKJV/PCE And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.
We must understand that after the Great Tribulation the people of Israel will see Jesus return and they will become Believers.
Zech 12:10 AKJV/PCE And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
And we must understand that those Living Waters are not just Spiritual water but are also literal waters that the Lord will give His people in the land of Israel.
Zech 14:8 ESV2011 On that day living waters shall flow out from Jerusalem, half of them to the eastern sea and half of them to the western sea. It shall continue in summer as in winter.
Zech 14:9 ESV2011 And the LORD will be king over all the earth. On that day the LORD will be one and his name one.
So God will give the living water that the people of Israel need to survive! And He also promises to water the dry ground for His people as they return to Israel.
But notice that He will also pour His Spirit upon them. So this water is Spiritual as well and refers to Salvation through Jesus.
Isa 44:3 AKJV/PCE For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:
Now let’s look at Isaiah 55 which is very Messianic in character –
Isa 55:1 AKJV/PCE Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
Let’s, for a moment, consider that water, wine and milk that’s offered freely here to all who will come –
The Lord offers us the water of life –
Rev 22:17 AKJV/PCE And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
He also offers us the wine of gladness –
Ps 104:15 AKJV/PCE And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man’s heart.
And the milk of nourishment –
1Pet 2:2 AKJV/PCE As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
1Pet 2:3 AKJV/PCE If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
So the Lord surely plans to bring Israel back into the land. And he will give them Salvation as they turn to Him. And He will also give them literal waters for their land!
Now at this time, some would say Dispensation, the message of the Gospel, the Living Waters that Jesus promises ALL who will come to him, is flowing freely especially into the Gentile lands of all this earth. It is flowing freely to all who are thirsty and will accept it. Isn’t that a wonderful provision for us? Amen!
John 4:9 AKJV/PCE Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
John 4:10 AKJV/PCE Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
John 4:14 AKJV/PCE But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
And this is the message of the Gospel, that Jesus gave to the Samaritan woman at the well of Jacob! He promised water that will spring up within us leading unto eternal life! Amen!

¡Agua Viva y Vida Eterna!

Hola amigos! Aquí tienes un pensamiento bíblico para ti.
¡Aquí en Juan 7 Jesús clama a las multitudes pidiendo agua viva!
John 7:37 RVG10 En el último día, el gran día de la fiesta, Jesús se puso en pie y alzó su voz, diciendo: Si alguno tiene sed, venga a mí y beba.
John 7:38 RVG10 El que cree en mí, como dice la Escritura, de su interior correrán ríos de agua viva.
John 7:39 RVG10 (Esto dijo del Espíritu Santo que habían de recibir los que creyesen en Él; porque el Espíritu Santo aún no había sido dado; porque Jesús no había sido aún glorificado.)
Pero ¿qué es esta agua viva? ¿Es solo una conversación espiritual sobre el agua de la vida? ¿Salvación? ¿O es agua literal para beber y usar? ¿O es ambas cosas?
Bueno… veamos qué podemos encontrar en las Escrituras.
En Jeremías, el Señor describió la apostasía de Israel como un alejamiento de Él, «la fuente de aguas vivas». En cambio, se volvieron a sus ídolos.
Jer 2:13 RVG10 Porque dos males ha hecho mi pueblo: me dejaron a mí, fuente de agua viva, por cavar para sí cisternas, cisternas rotas que no retienen el agua.
Jer 17:13 RVG10 ¡Oh Jehová, esperanza de Israel! todos los que te dejan, serán avergonzados; y los que de mí se apartan, serán escritos en el polvo; porque dejaron el manantial de aguas vivas, a Jehová.
Al profundizar en esta reflexión sobre las aguas vivas, vemos que cuando más israelitas regresen a Israel (después de la Tribulación), recibirán agua de las “fuentes de salvación”. Y eso nos recuerda nuestra salvación por medio de Jesús.
Isa 12:3 RVG10 Con gozo sacaréis aguas de las fuentes de la salvación.
Isa 12:4 RVG10 Y diréis en aquel día: Cantad a Jehová, aclamad su nombre, haced célebres en los pueblos sus obras, recordad que su nombre es engrandecido.
Debemos entender que después de la Gran Tribulación el pueblo de Israel verá regresar a Jesús y se convertirán en creyentes.
Zech 12:10 RVG10 Y derramaré sobre la casa de David, y sobre los moradores de Jerusalén, el espíritu de gracia y de oración; y mirarán a mí, a quien traspasaron, y harán llanto sobre Él, como llanto sobre unigénito, afligiéndose sobre Él como quien se aflige sobre primogénito.
Y debemos entender que esas Aguas Vivas no son sólo agua Espiritual sino también son aguas literales que el Señor dará a Su pueblo en la tierra de Israel.
Zech 14:8 RVG10 Acontecerá también en aquel día, que saldrán de Jerusalén aguas vivas; la mitad de ellas hacia el mar oriental, y la otra mitad hacia el mar occidental, en verano y en invierno.
Zech 14:9 RVG10 Y Jehová será rey sobre toda la tierra. En aquel día Jehová será uno, y uno su nombre.
Así que Dios dará el agua viva que el pueblo de Israel necesita para sobrevivir. Y también promete regar la tierra seca para su pueblo cuando regrese a Israel.
Pero note que también derramará su Espíritu sobre ellos. Así que esta agua también es espiritual y se refiere a la salvación por medio de Jesús.
Isa 44:3 RVG10 Porque yo derramaré aguas sobre el que tiene sed, y ríos sobre la tierra árida; derramaré mi Espíritu sobre tu linaje, y mi bendición sobre tu descendencia;
Ahora veamos Isaías 55, que tiene un carácter muy mesiánico:
Isa 55:1 RVG10 A todos los sedientos: Venid a las aguas; y los que no tienen dinero, venid, comprad, y comed. Venid, comprad, sin dinero y sin precio, vino y leche.
Consideremos por un momento el agua, el vino y la leche que se ofrecen gratuitamente aquí a todos los que quieran venir.
El Señor nos ofrece el agua de la vida –
Rev 22:17 RVG10 Y el Espíritu y la esposa dicen: Ven. Y el que oye, diga: Ven. Y el que tiene sed, venga; y el que quiere, tome del agua de la vida gratuitamente.
También nos ofrece el vino de la alegría –
Ps 104:15 RVG10 Y el vino que alegra el corazón del hombre, y el aceite que hace lucir el rostro, y el pan que sustenta el corazón del hombre.
Y la leche nutritiva –
1Pet 2:2 RVG10 desead, como niños recién nacidos, la leche no adulterada de la palabra, para que por ella crezcáis;
1Pet 2:3 RVG10 si es que habéis gustado la benignidad del Señor;
Así que el Señor sin duda planea traer a Israel de regreso a la tierra. Y les dará salvación si se vuelven a Él. ¡Y también les dará agua literal para su tierra!
Ahora bien, en este tiempo, algunos dirían que la Dispensación, el mensaje del Evangelio, las Aguas Vivas que Jesús promete a TODOS los que vengan a él, fluye libremente, especialmente en las tierras gentiles de toda la tierra. Fluye libremente a todos los que tienen sed y la aceptan. ¿No es esa una provisión maravillosa para nosotros? ¡Amén!
John 4:9 RVG10 Entonces la mujer samaritana le dijo: ¿Cómo es que tú, siendo judío, me pides a mí de beber, que soy mujer samaritana? Porque los judíos no tienen tratos con los samaritanos.
John 4:10 RVG10 Respondió Jesús y le dijo: Si conocieses el don de Dios, y quién es el que te dice: Dame de beber; tú le pedirías a Él, y Él te daría agua viva.
John 4:14 RVG10 pero el que bebiere del agua que yo le daré, no tendrá sed jamás; sino que el agua que yo le daré será en él una fuente de agua que salte para vida eterna.
Y este es el mensaje del Evangelio que Jesús dio a la samaritana junto al pozo de Jacob. ¡Prometió agua que brotará de nuestro interior y nos llevará a la vida eterna! ¡Amén!
