Jesus Won’t Break A Bruised Reed!

Matt 12:19 HCSB He will not argue or shout, and no one will hear His voice in the streets.
Matt 12:20 HCSB He will not break a bruised reed, and He will not put out a smoldering wick, until He has led justice to victory.
Matt 12:21 HCSB The nations will put their hope in His name.
This is a quote from Isaiah 42:1-4 about the manner and demeanor of the coming Messiah whom we now know as Jesus.
The meaning of verse 20 is that Jesus won’t break you off when your bruised. You can be healed. And He won’t put out your wick when the fire’s almost gone. The fire can be reignited again.
We might say that Jesus won’t kick you when your down! He’ll help you, and heal you, and lift you back up.
At the start of Matthew chapter 12 it’s the Sabbath. And the Pharisees are criticizing Jesus’ disciples for getting some grain from the field to eat because they were hungry. They think that is against Moses Law.
But Jesus reminded them that David, when he was very hungry, ate some of the sacred bread from the temple. That’s all there was!
Matt 12:3 HCSB He said to them, “Haven’t you read what David did when he and those who were with him were hungry —
Matt 12:4 HCSB how he entered the house of God, and they ate the sacred bread, which is not lawful for him or for those with him to eat, but only for the priests?
Then Jesus entered their Synagogue and healed a man’s paralyzed hand on the Sabbath. But the Pharisees were so angry about that that they started plotting to kill Jesus!
Matt 12:13 HCSB Then He told the man, “Stretch out your hand.” So he stretched it out, and it was restored, as good as the other.
Matt 12:14 HCSB But the Pharisees went out and plotted against Him, how they might destroy Him.
So Jesus left there and started healing many people in a large crowd following Him. Then Jesus asked the people not to go proclaim Him. I don’t think He wanted loud acclaim and a lot more attention at the moment. That might draw more criticism from those Pharisees!
And the prophet Isaiah had prophesied this concerning Jesus, the Messiah –
Matt 12:18 HCSB Here is My Servant whom I have chosen, My beloved in whom My soul delights; I will put My Spirit on Him, and He will proclaim justice to the nations.
Matt 12:19 HCSB He will not argue or shout, and no one will hear His voice in the streets.
Matt 12:20 HCSB He will not break a bruised reed, and He will not put out a smoldering wick, until He has led justice to victory.
Matt 12:21 HCSB The nations will put their hope in His name.
You see, those Pharisees were more worried about their strict understanding of what Moses Law said!
But Jesus was very concerned about humanity, suffering, sickness, healing and salvation!
Thus Jesus won’t break us off if we are damaged! He’ll heal and help us!
He won’t put out the little bit of fire that we have left. He’ll help us and reignite that fire!
QUESTION – So who was right? Those Pharisees? Or Jesus our Healer and Savior?

¡Jesús No Quebrará Una Caña Cascada!

Hola amigos! Aquí tienes un pensamiento bíblico para ti.
Matt 12:19 RVG10 No contenderá, ni voceará; ni nadie oirá en las calles su voz.
Matt 12:20 RVG10 La caña cascada no quebrará, y el pábilo que humea no apagará, hasta que saque a victoria el juicio.
Matt 12:21 RVG10 Y en su nombre esperarán los gentiles.
Esta es una cita de Isaías 42:1-4 sobre la manera y el comportamiento del Mesías venidero a quien ahora conocemos como Jesús.
El significado del versículo 20 es que Jesús no te separará cuando estés herido. Puedes ser curado. Y Él no apagará tu mecha cuando el fuego casi se haya extinguido. El fuego se puede volver a encender.
¡Podríamos decir que Jesús no te pateará cuando estés deprimido! Él te ayudará, te sanará y te levantará.
Al comienzo del capítulo 12 de Mateo es el sábado. Y los fariseos critican a los discípulos de Jesús por coger algo de grano del campo para comer porque tenían hambre. Piensan que eso va en contra de la Ley de Moisés.
Pero Jesús les recordó que David, cuando tuvo mucha hambre, comió un poco del pan sagrado del templo. ¡Eso es todo lo que había!
Matt 12:3 RVG10 Mas Él les dijo: ¿No habéis leído qué hizo David cuando tuvo hambre, él y los que con él estaban;
Matt 12:4 RVG10 cómo entró en la casa de Dios, y comió del pan de la proposición, que no le era lícito comer, ni a los que estaban con él, sino sólo a los sacerdotes?
Entonces Jesús entró en su sinagoga y curó la mano paralizada de un hombre en sábado. ¡Pero los fariseos estaban tan enojados por eso que comenzaron a conspirar para matar a Jesús!
Matt 12:13 RVG10 Entonces dijo a aquel hombre: Extiende tu mano. Y él la extendió, y le fue restaurada sana como la otra.
Matt 12:14 RVG10 Entonces salieron los fariseos y tomaron consejo contra Él, de cómo le matarían.
Entonces Jesús salió de allí y comenzó a sanar a mucha gente que lo seguía. Entonces Jesús pidió al pueblo que no fuera a proclamarlo. No creo que Él quisiera grandes aclamaciones y mucha más atención en este momento. ¡Eso podría generar más críticas por parte de esos fariseos!
Y el profeta Isaías había profetizado esto acerca de Jesús, el Mesías:
Matt 12:18 RVG10 He aquí mi siervo, a quien he escogido: Mi amado, en quien se agrada mi alma: Pondré mi Espíritu sobre Él, y a los gentiles anunciará juicio.
Matt 12:19 RVG10 No contenderá, ni voceará; ni nadie oirá en las calles su voz.
Matt 12:20 RVG10 La caña cascada no quebrará, y el pábilo que humea no apagará, hasta que saque a victoria el juicio.

Verá, ¡esos fariseos estaban más preocupados por su comprensión estricta de lo que decía la Ley de Moisés!
¡Pero Jesús estaba muy preocupado por la humanidad, el sufrimiento, la enfermedad, la curación y la salvación!
¡Así Jesús no nos separará si somos dañados! ¡Él nos sanará y ayudará!
No apagará el poquito de fuego que nos queda. ¡Él nos ayudará y reavivará ese fuego!
PREGUNTA – Entonces, ¿quién tenía razón? ¿Esos fariseos? ¿O Jesús nuestro Sanador y Salvador?
