Is God Slow?

Is God Slow To DO Things? Sometimes??
We probably think so.
Now Peter explains that God isn’t really slow . . like we think of slow.
2Pet 3:9 ESV2011 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
Peter shows the principle that the Lord isn’t slow. He isn’t delaying His plans.
But to us God sure seems slow sometimes . . especially if we hurting or afraid!
And I really believe that God understands that. He made us. And We’re human . .
THOUGHT – I think it’s interesting that our Bible doesn’t hide it when His people complain asking where He is and WHY He isn’t doing anything!
See That – God is letting us know that He does understand us and our lives.
Let’s look at a few examples –
Job suffered terribly and look what he said about it all –
Job 23:1 ESV2011 Then Job answered and said:
Job 23:2 ESV2011 “Today also my complaint is bitter; my hand is heavy on account of my groaning.
Job 23:3 ESV2011 Oh, that I knew where I might find him, that I might come even to his seat!
Job 23:4 ESV2011 I would lay my case before him and fill my mouth with arguments.
Job 23:8 ESV2011 “Behold, I go forward, but he is not there, and backward, but I do not perceive him;
Job 23:9 ESV2011 on the left hand when he is working, I do not behold him; he turns to the right hand, but I do not see him.
Job 23:10 ESV2011 But he knows the way that I take; when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold.
SEE THAT – Job wasn’t a bit happy about his sufferings. And he wanted to tell God face to face what he thought about it all! I can relate!
QUESTION – Have we ever felt that way??
And David and other Psalmists had a lot of trouble, opposition and danger in their lives.
And look what they said about it all –
Ps 10:1 AKJV/PCE Why standest thou afar off, O LORD? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?
Ps 13:1 AKJV/PCE To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?
Ps 13:2 AKJV/PCE How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?
Ps 44:23 AKJV/PCE Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever.
Ps 44:24 AKJV/PCE Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression?
Ps 44:25 AKJV/PCE For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth.
Ps 44:26 AKJV/PCE Arise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies’ sake.
POINT – OK So God admits in His Word that His people often thought he took way too long to help them with fairly simply needs.
NOW REMEMBER That Jesus Himself tells us that we have to KEEP ASKING with our prayers UNTIL we get the answer.
Luke 11:9 ISV So I say to you: Keep asking, and it will be given you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened for you,
Luke 11:10 ISV because everyone who keeps asking will receive, and the person who keeps searching will find, and the person who keeps knocking will have the door opened.
Luke 11:11 ISV “What father among you, if his son asks for bread, would give him a stone, or if he asks for a fish, would give him a snake instead of the fish?
Luke 11:12 ISV Or if he asks for an egg, would he give him a scorpion?
Luke 11:13 ISV So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who keep asking him!”
To me it just seems like Jesus is telling us that it will seem like God moves really slowly sometimes. But we have to Keep Asking and He will answer!
And Jesus guarantees us that God won’t give us a Bad Thing when we ask for Good.
QUESTION – Can You Believe Him Friends??
Let’s think about Paul’s life for a moment –
Paul had terrible troubles, beatings and opposition in his life. But he was able to say this to the Roman Believers –
Rom 8:28 NIV And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
NOTICE Here that it’s God who enters into all the things in our lives. And it’s He who works and makes it ALL work (Ultimately I think) for our good.
And Paul said this to the Ephesian Church –
Eph 3:20 AKJV/PCE Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
QUESTION – Can you Believe All of These Promises Friends?
And God does tell us that He will accomplish what He Plans.
What He Says He Will Do!
Isa 46:9 ESV2011 remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me,
Isa 46:10 ESV2011 declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,’
He says that His counsel = plan will stand.
So when we’re hurting or in danger and we need help Soon . .
The Bible tells us that God has plans for us and they will stand.
And He does hear our prayers. And He won’t give us a scorpion instead of an egg!
Isaiah also writes this –
Isa 42:3 ISV A crushed reed he will not break, and a fading candle he won’t snuff out. He’ll bring forth justice for the truth.
That means that God won’t kick us when we’re down. He won’t stomp on us.
He will help us. If we’ll let Him . .

Hola amigos! Aquí tienes un pensamiento bíblico para ti.
¿Es Dios lento para hacer las cosas? ¿A veces?
Probablemente pensemos que sí.
Ahora Pedro explica que Dios no es realmente lento… como pensamos.
2Pet 3:9 NBLA El Señor no se tarda en cumplir Su promesa, según algunos entienden la tardanza, sino que es paciente para con ustedes, no queriendo que nadie perezca, sino que todos vengan al arrepentimiento.
Pedro demuestra el principio de que el Señor no es lento. No retrasa sus planes.
Pero a nosotros, Dios sí nos parece lento a veces… ¡sobre todo si sufrimos o tenemos miedo!
Y creo firmemente que Dios lo entiende. Él nos creó. Y somos humanos…
PENSAMIENTO: Me parece interesante que nuestra Biblia no lo oculte cuando su pueblo se queja, preguntándole dónde está y por qué no hace nada.
Fíjense: Dios nos está haciendo saber que sí nos comprende a nosotros y a nuestras vidas.
Veamos algunos ejemplos: Job sufrió terriblemente y vean lo que dijo al respecto.
Job 23:1 NBLA Entonces Job respondió:
Job 23:2 NBLA «Aun hoy mi queja es rebelión;
Su[a] mano es pesada a pesar de mi gemido.
Job 23:3 NBLA ¡Quién me diera saber dónde encontrarlo,
Para poder llegar hasta Su trono!
Job 23:4 NBLA Expondría ante Él mi causa,
Llenaría mi boca de argumentos.
Job 23:8 NBLA»Me adelanto, pero Él no está allí,
Retrocedo, pero no lo puedo percibir;
Job 23:9 NBLACuando se manifiesta a la izquierda, no lo distingo,
Se vuelve a la derecha, y no lo veo.
Job 23:10 NBLAPero Él sabe el camino que tomo[d];
Cuando me haya probado, saldré como el oro.
MIRA ESO – Job no estaba nada contento con sus sufrimientos. ¡Y quería decirle a Dios cara a cara lo que pensaba de todo! ¡Me identifico!
PREGUNTA: ¿Nos hemos sentido así alguna vez?
David y otros salmistas enfrentaron muchos problemas, oposición y peligros en sus vidas.
Y mira lo que dijeron al respecto…
Ps 10:1 NVI ¿Por qué, Señor, te mantienes distante?
¿Por qué te escondes en momentos de angustia?
Ps 13:1 NVI ¿Hasta cuándo, Señor, me tendrás en el olvido?
¿Hasta cuándo esconderás de mí tu rostro?
Ps 13:2 NVI ¿Hasta cuándo he de atormentar mi mente con preocupaciones
y he de sufrir cada día en mi corazón?
¿Hasta cuándo mi enemigo triunfará sobre mí?
Ps 44:23 NVI ¡Despierta, Señor! ¿Por qué duermes?
¡Levántate! No nos rechaces para siempre.
Ps 44:24 NVI ¿Por qué escondes tu rostro
y te olvidas de nuestro sufrimiento y opresión?
Ps 44:25 NVI Estamos abatidos hasta el polvo;
nuestro cuerpo se arrastra por el suelo.
Ps 44:26 NVI ¡Levántate, ven a ayudarnos!
¡Por tu gran amor, rescátanos!
PUNTO – Bien, Dios admite en Su Palabra que Su pueblo a menudo pensaba que tardaba demasiado en ayudarlos con necesidades bastante sencillas.
AHORA, RECUERDEN que Jesús mismo nos dice que debemos SEGUIR PIDIENDO con nuestras oraciones HASTA que obtengamos la respuesta.
Luke 11:9 NTV »Así que les digo, sigan pidiendo y recibirán lo que piden; sigan buscando y encontrarán; sigan llamando, y la puerta se les abrirá.
Luke 11:10 NTV Pues todo el que pide, recibe; todo el que busca, encuentra; y a todo el que llama, se le abrirá la puerta.
Luke 11:11 NTV »Ustedes, los que son padres, si sus hijos les piden[e] un pescado, ¿les dan una serpiente en su lugar?
Luke 11:12 NTV O si les piden un huevo, ¿les dan un escorpión? ¡Claro que no!
Luke 11:13 NTV Así que si ustedes, gente pecadora, saben dar buenos regalos a sus hijos, cuánto más su Padre celestial dará el Espíritu Santo a quienes lo pidan».
Me parece que Jesús nos dice que a veces parecerá que Dios actúa con mucha lentitud. ¡Pero tenemos que seguir pidiendo y Él responderá!
Y Jesús nos garantiza que Dios no nos dará nada malo cuando pidamos algo bueno.
PREGUNTA: ¿Pueden creerle, amigos?
Pensemos en la vida de Pablo por un momento.
Pablo tuvo terribles problemas, palizas y oposición en su vida. Pero pudo decirles esto a los creyentes romanos:
Rom 8:28 NVI Ahora bien, sabemos que Dios dispone todas las cosas para el bien de quienes lo aman,[d] los que han sido llamados de acuerdo con su propósito.
Observen que es Dios quien interviene en todo en nuestras vidas. Y es Él quien obra y hace que todo obre (creo que, en última instancia) para nuestro bien.
Y Pablo dijo esto a la Iglesia de Éfeso:
Eph 3:20 NVI Al que puede hacer muchísimo más que todo lo que podamos imaginarnos o pedir, por el poder que obra eficazmente en nosotros,
PREGUNTA: ¿Pueden creer todas estas promesas, amigos?
Y Dios nos dice que cumplirá lo que planea.
¡Lo que dice que hará!
Isa 46:9 NBLA Acuérdense de las cosas anteriores ya pasadas,
Porque Yo soy Dios, y no hay otro;
Yo soy Dios, y no hay ninguno como Yo,
Isa 46:10 NBLA Que declaro el fin desde el principio,
Y desde la antigüedad lo que no ha sido hecho.
Yo digo: “Mi propósito será establecido,
Y todo lo que quiero realizaré”.
Él dice que su consejo = plan se mantendrá.
Así que cuando estamos sufriendo o en peligro y necesitamos ayuda pronto…
La Biblia nos dice que Dios tiene planes para nosotros y que se mantendrán.
Y Él escucha nuestras oraciones. ¡Y no nos dará un escorpión en lugar de un huevo!
Isaías también escribe esto:
Isa 42:3 NBLA No quebrará la caña cascada,
Ni apagará la mecha que casi no arde;
Con fidelidad traerá justicia.
Eso significa que Dios no nos pateará cuando estemos caídos. No nos pisoteará. Él nos ayudará. Si lo permitimos…
