This is a Fascinating article about our wonderful human brains.
Please check it out!
The article says that over the past few years new ways of studying our brain compared to that of other species has revealed important differences!
They say that our human brain is much larger than that of other species.
“The human brain is up to three times larger in volume than the brains of chimpanzees, gorillas and many extinct human relatives.”
WOW! That’s a Lot bigger.
I understand them to say that some areas in our brains are much larger than would be expected.
“One particularly enlarged region is the cortex, an area that carries out planning, reasoning, language and many other behaviours that humans excel at.”
I searched Google for “the human brain compared to other species” and AI gave me this interesting info –
AI Overview
…
The human brain is larger than the brains of most other animals, and has a number of features that contribute to its cognitive abilities:
Size
The human brain is relatively larger than the body size of humans compared to other mammals. The average human brain weighs about three pounds, which is much larger than the brains of chimpanzees, which are similar in body size to humans but have brains that are one-third the size.
Cerebral cortex
The human cerebral cortex is disproportionately large, accounting for more than 80% of the total brain mass. The cerebral cortex is responsible for higher cognitive abilities.
Association cortex
The human association cortex is larger and has more neurons than other primates. This region supports cognitive functions like language, problem solving, and self-awareness.
Brain region connections
The human brain has more fibers connecting brain regions involved in language, tool making, reasoning, and social cognition.
Fewer neuronal channels
Human brains have fewer neuronal channels that allow ions to flow, which could mean that the human brain can operate more efficiently.
Our Bible does say this –
Ps 139:14 ESV2011 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
