Forgiveness!

Hi Friends! Here’s A Bible Thought For You.

We hear a LOT in Churches about forgiveness and forgiving others.
Matt 6:15 AKJV/PCE But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Luke 17:3-4 gives us some important details.
Luke 17:3 AKJV/PCE ¶ Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
Luke 17:4 AKJV/PCE And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.
Strong’s defines that as – Pay attention to yourselves!
Maybe that you don’t offend others. Or maybe that you don’t get offended.
Here are some other verses about Forgiving –
Col 3:12 ISV Therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.
Col 3:13 ISV Be tolerant of one another and forgive each other if anyone has a complaint against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, you also should forgive.
Col 3:14 ISV Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which ties everything together in unity.
Eph 4:31 ISV Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, quarreling, and slander be put away from you, along with all hatred.
Eph 4:32 ISV And be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another just as God has forgiven you in the Messiah.
But as Luke 17:3-4 shows, the person who has offended has to be willing to ask forgiveness when you talk to them about it.
And I don’t think we hear that detail mentioned as much.
Matt 18:14 ISV In the same way, it is not the will of your Father in heaven that one of these little ones should be lost.”
Matt 18:15 ISV “If your brother sins against you, go and confront him while the two of you are alone. If he listens to you, you have won back your brother.
Matt 18:16 ISV But if he doesn’t listen, take one or two others with you so that ‘every word may be confirmed by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’
Matt 18:17 ISV If, however, he ignores them, tell it to the congregation. If he also ignores the congregation, regard him as a gentile and a tax collector.
WOW! So if that offender refused to ask for forgiveness you considered them as like a pagan! Or a Tax Collector who was a Traitor to the Jewish people!
Interestingly Jesus on the cross asked the Father to forgive the Roman soldiers but not the Jewish people or their Religious Rulers standing watching His crucifixion.
Luke 23:33 WPNT When they arrived at the place called ‘The Skull’, they crucified Him there; also the criminals, one on His right, the other on His left.
Luke 23:34 WPNT Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing”; while they were dividing up His clothes by casting a lot.
Luke 23:35 WPNT Meanwhile the people stood looking on. And especially the rulers among them were sneering, saying, “He saved others; let him save himself, if such is the Christ, the chosen of God!”
And Robertson’s Word Pictures says this – “. . Jesus evidently is praying for the Roman soldiers, who were only obeying, but not for the Sanhedrin.”
And I always find this passage fascinating –
Rev 6:9 AKJV/PCE And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
Rev 6:10 AKJV/PCE And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
Rev 6:11 AKJV/PCE And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.
Let’s get the picture here –
These are Martyrs killed for their Christian faith during the Great Tribulation!
And they have just entered Heaven. And they are before the Father on His Throne.
And the First Words Out Of Their Mouths is Basically – Father how long until you Pound those people on earth and give us vengeance for what they did to us!!
WOW!
Note that they haven’t forgotten the evil done to them.
And they are still Demanding Vengeance!
And the Father doesn’t rebuke them.
He just tells them to be patient a little longer and then the implication is that the Father will give them that vengeance as He does Pound this earth more and more!
WOW!

Strong lo define como: ¡Presten atención a ustedes mismos!
Tal vez para no ofender a los demás. O tal vez para no sentirse ofendidos.

Pero como muestra Lucas 17:3-4, la persona que ha ofendido tiene que estar dispuesta a pedir perdón cuando le hables de ello.
