Can Animals Communicate With Us?

A fascinating article titled “Chimp chatter is a lot more like human language than previously thought” by Jake Buehler at https://www.sciencenews.org/article/chimp-chatter-human-language
Dated 05-09-25 says this –
“Previous work delving into the evolutionary origins of language in nonhuman animals had shown that species typically have a limited ability to combine sounds to expand options for communication . . .
“In the chimpanzee, it looks as if they use [combination] much more broadly, across a vast diversity of daily life situations,” Girard-Buttoz says. “These combinations are potentially also to communicate about more than one thing at the same time, exactly what we do in a sentence.”
The findings suggest that chimpanzees can go beyond a limited alphabet of sorts to communicate richer, more detailed messages . . .”.
In another interesting article titled “Do birds understand or just mimic?” by Sara Nichols at https://www.birdful.org/do-birds-understand-or-just-mimic/
dated February 24, 2024 says this –
“. . A number of scientific studies suggest that some highly intelligent birds, especially grey parrots, actually do understand the meaning behind sounds. Here are some of the most compelling lines of evidence:
Use of language in appropriate contexts – parrots not only mimic human speech but use words in proper context.
Ability to associate labels with objects – parrots can learn that certain sounds refer to specific objects. . .”.
I think all of that is just fascinating!
Now in the Bible we see three different instances of animals talking to people!
The first is the snake in the garden in Genesis 3:1-5.
Gen 3:1 ESV2011 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?”
Gen 3:2 ESV2011 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden,
It amazes me that Eve doesn’t seem the least bit shocked about this snake talking to her! Did the animals have some communicative capabilities that man could understand before our fall and seperation from God??
Then we see Balaam’s ass in Numbers 22.
Num 22:27 ESV2011 When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD, she lay down under Balaam. And Balaam’s anger was kindled, and he struck the donkey with his staff.
Num 22:28 ESV2011 Then the LORD opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, “What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?”
Num 22:29 ESV2011 And Balaam said to the donkey, “Because you have made a fool of me. I wish I had a sword in my hand, for then I would kill you.”
Num 22:30 ESV2011 And the donkey said to Balaam, “Am I not your donkey, on which you have ridden all your life long to this day? Is it my habit to treat you this way?” And he said, “No.”
Balaam doesn’t miss a bit. He carries on this conversation with his ass like it’s perfectly normal! What can you make out of that?
The we see the eagle in the sky in Revelation 8:13.
Rev 8:13 ESV2011 Then I looked, and I heard an eagle crying with a loud voice as it flew directly overhead, “Woe, woe, woe to those who dwell on the earth, at the blasts of the other trumpets that the three angels are about to blow!”
It seems like the people on earth are going to hear this warning from the eagle!
Interestingly, we see a similar example in Heaven mentioned in Revelation 4.
Rev 4:6 ESV2011 and before the throne there was as it were a sea of glass, like crystal. And around the throne, on each side of the throne, are four living creatures, full of eyes in front and behind:
Rev 4:7 ESV2011 the first living creature like a lion, the second living creature like an ox, the third living creature with the face of a man, and the fourth living creature like an eagle in flight.
Rev 4:8 ESV2011 And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”
Now three of these four beings are described as like a Lion, an Ox and an Eagle!
And they are in front of God the Father declaring His Holiness all the time!
They can talk!
Is it possible that the entire creation had more capabilities to communicate with us before the fall and our seperation from God? Is such a thing possible?

¿Pueden los animales comunicarse con nosotros?

¡Hola amigos! Les traigo una reflexión sobre ciencia y Biblia.
Un fascinante artículo titulado “Chimp chatter is a lot more like human language than previously thought” de Jake Buehler, publicado en https://www.sciencenews.org/article/chimp-chatter-human-language
con fecha del 25/05/09, afirma lo siguiente:
“Investigaciones previas que profundizaron en los orígenes evolutivos del lenguaje en animales no humanos habían demostrado que las especies suelen tener una capacidad limitada para combinar sonidos y ampliar sus opciones de comunicación…
“En el chimpancé, parece que utilizan la combinación de sonidos de forma mucho más amplia, en una gran diversidad de situaciones de la vida cotidiana”, afirma Girard-Buttoz. “Estas combinaciones también sirven potencialmente para comunicar más de una cosa a la vez, exactamente lo que hacemos en una oración”.
Los hallazgos sugieren que los chimpancés pueden ir más allá de un alfabeto limitado para comunicar mensajes más ricos y detallados…”.
En otro interesante artículo titulado “Do birds understand or just mimic?” de Sara Nichols en https://www.birdful.org/do-birds-understand-or-just-mimic/ , fechado el 24 de febrero de 2024, se afirma lo siguiente:
“. . . Diversos estudios científicos sugieren que algunas aves muy inteligentes, especialmente los loros grises, sí comprenden el significado de los sonidos. Estas son algunas de las pruebas más convincentes:
Uso del lenguaje en contextos apropiados: los loros no solo imitan el habla humana, sino que también usan las palabras en el contexto adecuado.
Capacidad para asociar etiquetas con objetos: los loros pueden aprender que ciertos sonidos se refieren a objetos específicos . . .”.
¡Todo esto me parece fascinante!
En la Biblia vemos tres ejemplos diferentes de animales hablando con personas.
El primero es la serpiente en el jardín, en Génesis 3:1-5.
Gen 3:1 RVG10 Pero la serpiente era astuta, más que todos los animales del campo que Jehová Dios había hecho; la cual dijo a la mujer: ¿Conque Dios os ha dicho: No comáis de todo árbol del huerto?
Gen 3:2 RVG10 Y la mujer respondió a la serpiente: Del fruto de los árboles del huerto podemos comer;
¡Me asombra que Eva no parezca en lo más mínimo sorprendida de que esta serpiente le hablara! ¿Acaso los animales tenían capacidades comunicativas que el hombre pudiera comprender antes de nuestra caída y separación de Dios?
Luego vemos el asno de Balaam en Números 22.
Num 22:27 RVG10 Y viendo el asna al Ángel de Jehová, se echó debajo de Balaam; y se enojó Balaam, y golpeó al asna con un palo.
Num 22:28 RVG10 Entonces Jehová abrió la boca al asna, la cual dijo a Balaam: ¿Qué te he hecho, que me has herido estas tres veces?
Num 22:29 RVG10 Y Balaam respondió al asna: Porque te has burlado de mí: ¡Bueno fuera que tuviera espada en mi mano, ahora mismo te mataría!
Num 22:30 RVG10 Y el asna dijo a Balaam: ¿No soy yo tu asna? sobre mí has cabalgado desde que tú me tienes hasta este día; ¿he acostumbrado a hacerlo así contigo? Y él respondió: No.
Balaam no se pierde ni un detalle. ¡Continúa con esta conversación con total naturalidad! ¿Qué puedes entender por eso?
Vemos al águila en el cielo en Apocalipsis 8:13.
Rev 8:13 NBLA Entonces miré, y oí volar un águila en medio del cielo, que decía a gran voz: «¡Ay, ay, ay, de los que habitan en la tierra, a causa de los toques de trompeta que faltan, que los otros tres ángeles están para tocar!».
¡Parece que la gente en la Tierra escuchará esta advertencia del águila!
Curiosamente, vemos un ejemplo similar en el Cielo mencionado en Apocalipsis 4.
Rev 4:6 RVG10 Y delante del trono había un mar de vidrio semejante al cristal; y en medio del trono, y alrededor del trono, cuatro seres vivientes llenos de ojos delante y detrás.
Rev 4:7 RVG10 Y el primer ser viviente era semejante a un león; y el segundo ser viviente era semejante a un becerro; y el tercer ser viviente tenía la cara como de hombre; y el cuarto ser viviente era semejante a un águila volando.
Rev 4:8 RVG10 Y los cuatro seres vivientes tenían cada uno seis alas alrededor, y por dentro estaban llenos de ojos; y no reposaban día y noche, diciendo: Santo, santo, santo, Señor Dios Todopoderoso, que era, y que es, y que ha de venir.
Ahora, tres de estos cuatro seres son descritos como un león, un buey y un águila.
¡Y están ante Dios Padre declarando Su Santidad constantemente!
¡Pueden hablar!
¿Es posible que toda la creación tuviera más capacidad para comunicarse con nosotros antes de la caída y nuestra separación de Dios? ¿Es posible?
