Is Jesus physical or spirit?
He is both!
When the Disciples saw the resurrected Jesus they were scared thinking they were seeing a ghost!
But Jesus assured them that He was flesh and bone!
He wasn’t a ghost like entity.
Luke 24:37 AKJV/PCE But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.
Luke 24:38 AKJV/PCE And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?
Luke 24:39 AKJV/PCE Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
The word “spirit” in verses 37 and 39 is Strong’s πνεῦμα pneuma (pnev’-ma) n.
1. a current of air, i.e. breath (blast) or a breeze.
2. (by analogy or figuratively) a spirit.
THOUGHT – I think many people today think of the spirit world that we see in our Bible as sort of a world of literally just spirits (like ghosts) without any real physical substance.
I have seen some think that the angels don’t really have any form. They are just Happy Floating Spiritual Balls of Love!
I don’t believe any of those silly ideas!
The resurrected Jesus – in Luke 24:37-39 above – showed His Disciples that He was very physical in His resurrected body.
Now mass, and gravity and things like that did not control Him any more.
But He IS Still Physical!
In John 20 we see more proof that the resurrected Jesus had a physical body.
He was not just like a ghost.
John 20:19 AKJV/PCE ¶ Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
John 20:20 AKJV/PCE And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.
Jesus in His resurrected body entered a room where the doors were shut tight!
But Jesus showed His Disciples that He was really Himself.
He wasn’t just like we think of a spirit or ghost!
And again, eight days later Jesus entered the locked up room where they were.
John 20:26 AKJV/PCE ¶ And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
John 20:27 AKJV/PCE Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
John 20:28 AKJV/PCE And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
John 20:29 AKJV/PCE Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
This time Jesus told Thomas to come touch His hands to see the wounds from His crucifixion.
And He told Thomas to put his hand into Jesus side where the Roman soldier has thrust in the spear (John 19:34).
And yet Jesus is spirit also.
And Jesus also works as spirit!
2Cor 3:17 AKJV/PCE Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
Again that word “spirit” in 2 Corinthians 3:17 is Strong’s πνεῦμα pneuma (pnev’-ma) n.

2. (by analogy or figuratively) a spirit.
Also, Jesus actually lives within each one of us who is a Christian Believer!
He clearly has to do that in spirit – not physically.
Rom 8:9 AKJV/PCE But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
Gal 2:20 AKJV/PCE I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Now when Jesus went up into Heaven He went up in His resurrected body that the Disciples had seen and touched for some time.
Acts 1:9 AKJV/PCE And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
Acts 1:10 AKJV/PCE And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
Acts 1:11 AKJV/PCE Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
And He still has that resurrected perfected body right now in heaven.
Phil 3:20 AKJV/PCE For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
Phil 3:21 AKJV/PCE Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
Col 2:9 AKJV/PCE For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
At John’s revelation Jesus placed His right hand on John.
Rev 1:17 AKJV/PCE And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
These verses show us that Jesus resurrected body is physical.
And He still has that body now in Heaven.
And we will be like Jesus at our resurrection.
Phil 3:20 AKJV/PCE For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

THOUGHT – We can be physical, with mass and substance, and still be spirit and part of the spiritual world that lives for God.

Cuando los discípulos vieron a Jesús resucitado se asustaron pensando que estaban viendo un fantasma.
¡Pero Jesús les aseguró que Él era carne y hueso!
No era una entidad fantasma.
Luke 24:37 RVG10 Entonces ellos espantados y atemorizados, pensaban que veían un espíritu.
Luke 24:38 RVG10 Mas Él les dijo: ¿Por qué estáis turbados, y suben pensamientos en vuestros corazones?
Luke 24:39 RVG10 Mirad mis manos y mis pies, que yo mismo soy; palpadme y ved; porque un espíritu no tiene carne ni huesos, como veis que yo tengo.
La palabra “espíritu” en los versículos 37 y 39 es Strong’s πνεῦμα pneuma (pnev’-ma) n.

PENSAMIENTO – Creo que hoy en día mucha gente piensa que el mundo de los espíritus que vemos en nuestra Biblia es una especie de mundo de espíritus literalmente (como fantasmas) sin ninguna sustancia física real.
He visto a algunos pensar que los ángeles realmente no tienen forma alguna. ¡Son simplemente felices bolas espirituales flotantes de amor!
¡No creo en ninguna de esas tontas ideas!
Jesús resucitado, en Lucas 24:37-39 arriba, mostró a sus discípulos que Él era muy físico en Su cuerpo resucitado.
Ahora la masa, la gravedad y cosas así ya no lo controlaban más.
¡Pero Él sigue siendo físico!
En Juan 20 vemos más pruebas de que Jesús resucitado tenía un cuerpo físico.
No era sólo como un fantasma.
John 20:19 RVG10 Y el mismo día al anochecer, siendo el primero de la semana, estando las puertas cerradas en donde los discípulos estaban reunidos por miedo a los judíos, vino Jesús, y poniéndose en medio, les dijo: Paz a vosotros.
John 20:20 RVG10 Y habiendo dicho esto, les mostró sus manos y su costado. Entonces los discípulos se regocijaron viendo al Señor.
¡Jesús en Su cuerpo resucitado entró en una habitación donde las puertas estaban bien cerradas!
Pero Jesús mostró a sus discípulos que él era realmente él mismo.
¡No era como pensamos en un espíritu o fantasma!
Y nuevamente, ocho días después, Jesús entró en el cuarto cerrado donde estaban.
John 20:26 RVG10 Y ocho días después, estaban otra vez sus discípulos dentro, y con ellos Tomás. Entonces vino Jesús, estando las puertas cerradas, y poniéndose en medio, dijo: Paz a vosotros.
John 20:27 RVG10 Entonces dijo a Tomás: Mete tu dedo aquí, y ve mis manos; y da acá tu mano, y métela en mi costado; y no seas incrédulo, sino creyente.
John 20:28 RVG10 Y Tomás respondió, y le dijo: ¡Señor mío, y Dios mío!
John 20:29 RVG10 Jesús le dijo: Tomás, porque me has visto, creíste; bienaventurados los que no vieron, y creyeron.
Esta vez Jesús le dijo a Tomás que viniera a tocarle las manos para ver las heridas de su crucifixión.
Y le dijo a Tomás que pusiera su mano en el costado de Jesús, donde el soldado romano había clavado la lanza (Juan 19:34).
Y, sin embargo, Jesús también es espíritu.
¡Y Jesús también obra como espíritu!
2Cor 3:17 RVG10 Porque el Señor es el Espíritu; y donde está el Espíritu del Señor, allí hay libertad.
Nuevamente la palabra “espíritu” en 2 Corintios 3:17 es Strong’s πνεῦμα pneuma (pnev’-ma) n.
1. una corriente de aire, es decir, un soplo (ráfaga) o una brisa.
- (por analogía o en sentido figurado)) un espíritu.
Además, ¡Jesús realmente vive dentro de cada uno de nosotros que somos cristianos creyentes!
Claramente tiene que hacerlo en espíritu, no físicamente.
Rom 8:9 RVG10 Mas vosotros no estáis en la carne, sino en el Espíritu, si es que el Espíritu de Dios mora en vosotros. Y si alguno no tiene el Espíritu de Cristo, el tal no es de Él.
Gal 2:20 RVG10 Con Cristo estoy juntamente crucificado; mas vivo, ya no yo, sino que Cristo vive en mí; y lo que ahora vivo en la carne, lo vivo en la fe del Hijo de Dios, el cual me amó y se entregó a sí mismo por mí.
Ahora, cuando Jesús subió al Cielo, subió en Su cuerpo resucitado que los Discípulos habían visto y tocado durante algún tiempo.
Acts 1:9 RVG10 Y habiendo dicho estas cosas, viéndolo ellos, fue alzado; y una nube lo recibió, y lo encubrió de sus ojos.
Acts 1:10 RVG10 Y estando ellos con los ojos puestos en el cielo, entre tanto que Él se iba, he aquí dos varones en vestiduras blancas se pusieron junto a ellos;
Acts 1:11 RVG10 los cuales también les dijeron: Varones galileos, ¿qué estáis mirando al cielo? Este mismo Jesús que ha sido tomado de vosotros al cielo, así vendrá como le habéis visto ir al cielo.
Y Él todavía tiene ese cuerpo resucitado y perfeccionado ahora mismo en el cielo.
Phil 3:20 RVG10 Mas nuestra ciudadanía está en el cielo, de donde también esperamos al Salvador, el Señor Jesucristo;
Phil 3:21 RVG10 el cual transformará nuestro cuerpo vil, para que sea semejante a su cuerpo glorioso, según el poder con el cual puede también sujetar a sí todas las cosas.
Col 2:9 RVG10 Porque en Él habita corporalmente toda la plenitud de la Deidad,
En la revelación de Juan, Jesús puso su mano derecha sobre Juan.
Rev 1:17 RVG10 Y cuando le vi, caí como muerto a sus pies. Y Él puso su diestra sobre mí, diciéndome: No temas; yo soy el primero y el último;
Estos versículos nos muestran que el cuerpo resucitado de Jesús es físico.
Y Él todavía tiene ese cuerpo ahora en el Cielo.
Y seremos como Jesús en nuestra resurrección.
Phil 3:20 RVG10 Mas nuestra ciudadanía está en el cielo, de donde también esperamos al Salvador, el Señor Jesucristo;
Phil 3:21 RVG10 el cual transformará nuestro cuerpo vil, para que sea semejante a su cuerpo glorioso, según el poder con el cual puede también sujetar a sí todas las cosas.
PENSAMIENTO – Podemos ser físicos, con masa y sustancia, y aún así ser espíritu y parte del mundo espiritual que vive para Dios.
